Dress Code
You must be smartly dressed at all times, as you would be if working in a smart professional environment. You are role models for the rest of Harris Federation and as such need to be smartly presented at all times. Identity cards should be visible at all times and you must have your organiser with you every day.
Boys
· Formal business suit
· Formal shirt and tie
· Formal shoes (you must be able to polish them)
Girls
· Formal business suit (trousers or a skirt that must be at least to the knee)
· Formal blouse or shirt with a collar
· Suit jacket or blazer
· Formal shoes (you must be able to polish them)
Jackets may be removed in warm conditions. Scarves may be worn outside the buildings but must be removed once inside.
PE students should wear black shorts or tracksuit bottoms and a Harris Federation Post 16 Polo shirt. These are purchased from your base site Academy via your PE teacher.
Performing Arts students should dress as follows:
Female students: Black fitted t-shirt with Harris federation logo, black full length jazz pants (plain and unmarked) - female cut and black split sole jazz shoes.
Male students: Black t-shirt with Harris federation logo, black full length jazz pants (plain and unmarked) – unisex cut and black split sole jazz shoes.
General: All jewellery will need to be removed, including belly button piercings.
Students should wear minimal make up and should have short nails – acrylic nails will need to be removed.
Hair should be tied up during workshops.
Students will be provided with a list of recommended retailers for the shoes.
As this is a practical course and students will be performing in lessons the above kit guidelines will needed to be enforced at all times. Failure to wear the correct kit will prevent you from participating in workshops and performances, thereby jeopardising your grades.
The following are not permitted:
· Brightly coloured trousers, skirts and jackets;
· Dresses;
· Denim/Jeans trousers/skirts and jackets;
· Casual trousers – combats, track suits, leggings;
· Casual tops – track suit, fleeces, T-shirts, hooded tops;
· Shorts, cropped trousers;
· Sportswear;
· Very short skirts/revealing clothes;
· Trainers, pumps, canvas shoes, boots or leisure shoes/pumps;
· Patterns or shapes cut into hair or eyebrows and brightly coloured hair;
· Gloves, hats, caps and bandannas.
· Large earrings, necklaces
· Coloured Shoe Laces
Tattoos should not be visible. Visible body piercing is restricted to the ears only.
Students will be sent home if they do not conform to the Dress code. It is beyond the scope of the Policy to provide guidance on every eventuality. In the event of queries, the Principal of Harris Federation Post 16 (or his/her personal representative), will act as the arbiter. If you fail to comply with these guidelines you will be dealt with in line with the Post 16 Discipline Structure.
