Intro Cert/Dip Level 1

 BTEC COURSES

BTECs offer the opportunity to study a programme that has been designed in consultation with industry and professionals ensuring that the programmes are relevant and recognised by professional bodies, employers and universities. BTEC qualifications are flexible and can be studied alongside traditional GCSEs and A Levels.

BTECs are actually made up of core and specialist units. The units all have a standard format and are assessed through motivating and interactive assignments that cover the assessment criteria. All assessment is 100% by coursework. You will receive a Pass, Merit, or Distinction for each unit that makes up the qualification. The overall grade is determined by the number of points scored for each of the units.

BTEC INTRODUCTORY CERTIFICATE/DIPLOMA VOCATIONAL STUDIES (LEVEL 1)

The BTEC Introductory Certificate/Diploma is designed to encourage you to develop the personal skills and qualities you need for work, successful learning and to help you achieve to your full potential. BTEC Introductory qualifications are intended as practical “hands on” programmes as they are taught in the context of real jobs and careers in a sample of vocational sectors. This gives you the chance to explore the opportunities offered in that sector, and to acquire appropriate vocational skills.

The course is flexible. These units can vary as this qualification is about giving you a flavour of the different vocational courses available and hence it allows you to discover your strengths and the areas that really interest you. This means that at the end of the course, you can then choose more specific courses such as a BTEC First Certificate that link to the units that you enjoyed studying.

The way we deliver this course at the Harris Federation is to give you a flavour of units from Construction, Business, Health and Social Care, Media and ICT.
